A total of 1,726 people were arrested across the country, including the capital Dhaka, in an ongoing special operation by the police over the past 24 hours.

The Police Headquarters confirmed the information in a press release on Friday.

Of those arrested, 1,185 were wanted in various cases, while 541 were involved in other criminal activities.

During the arrests, the police recovered two foreign pistols, a single-barrel pipe gun, two LG guns, a magazine, four rounds of cartridges, four knives, a machete, and a hatchet.
