The Dhaka University (DU) Metro Rail Station has been temporarily closed from 7:00pm on Wednesday due to security concerns centring on Thirty-first Night celebrations.

The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) said in a message issued in the afternoon that the decision was taken following a special request from the Dhaka University authorities.

As a result, metro trains will not stop at the Dhaka University station from 7:00pm until the end of services for the day.

Trains departing from Shahbagh will instead run directly to the Jatiya Press Club-Secretariat station without stopping at DU.

DMTCL said metro rail services on all other stations will continue as usual, with operations running until 10:10pm, in line with regular schedules.
