Traffic movement through the Karnaphuli Tunnel will be partially diverted for six nights starting tomorrow to facilitate routine maintenance work, the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) said in a press release on Friday.

According to the BBA, the diversion will remain in effect every night from 11pm to 5am until October 30.

During this period, vehicles will be allowed to move in a controlled manner through either the Patenga-to-Anwara or Anwara-to-Patenga tube, depending on maintenance needs.

The BBA also warned that commuters might face brief waiting periods due to the diversion.

Respected passengers may need to wait for a minimum of five to a maximum of ten minutes in both directions of the tunnel, depending on the existing traffic volume,” the press release added.

The authorities urged commuters to extend their cooperation to ensure the safe and timely completion of the tunnel’s maintenance work.
