The National Consensus Commission has revised the fifth clause of the July National Charter’s declaration amid anger and protests.The original clause had pledged to ensure justice, state honors, and support for those killed during the 16-year anti-fascist struggle before the popular uprising and the July–August 2024 movement.In the revised version, the Commission added a reference to “justice for the killings committed by the fascist Awami League and certain members of its allied law enforcement agencies.” The updated clause also includes monthly allowances, proper medical treatment, rehabilitation, and legal immunity for the families of martyrs and injured fighters.The amendment was announced in a press release issued by the Commission on Friday afternoon.On Thursday night, individuals identifying themselves as “families of July martyrs and injured fighters” staged a protest on Manik Mia Avenue.
