Labour ministry adopts 22 fast-track action plans

The Ministry of Labour and Employment on Monday adopted 22 time-bound action plans to be implemented within 180 days as part of the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)-led government’s Election Manifesto 2026.The decisions were taken at a workshop held at the ministry’s conference room at the Bangladesh Secretariat to finalise short-term deliverables under the manifesto.Chaired by Labour Secretary Dr Md Sanwar Jahan Bhuiyan, the workshop was addressed as chief guest by Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury, who directed officials to submit weekly progress reports and ensure regular follow-up to meet the stipulated deadlines.Labour law reforms by MarchAs part of labour law reform and modernisation, the ministry set March 31, 2026 as the deadline for transforming the Bangladesh Labour Ordinance, 2025 into a full-fledged law.Officials said formulation of labour rules under the Bangladesh Labour Act and enactment of laws to eliminate child labour and forced labour will be completed ...
