Prime Minister Tarek Rahman on Thursday called on students to show compassion towards animals, protect nature and develop responsible habits from an early age, saying that caring for all living beings is a human duty.
Speaking during an interaction with students at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, the Prime Minister said that, as the most advanced of God's creations, humans have a responsibility to care for trees, wildlife and the environment.
"We must not harm animals. Instead, we should show kindness and compassion towards all living creatures," he told students from Puthia Girls' High School in Rajshahi, Savar Girls' High School, Tejgaon Women's College and Shafiuddin Sarkar Academy and College in Tongi.
Tarique Rahman urged the students to plant more trees, keep their surroundings clean and work towards preventing environmental pollution.
He stressed the importance of developing a sense of responsibility towards nature, the environment and animals from childhood.
The Prime Minister also encouraged students to pursue sports and cultural activities alongside their academic studies.
He urged them to participate in singing, poetry recitation, painting and musical performances, and also advised them to practise Qur'an recitation.
Highlighting the importance of sports for physical and mental well-being, Tarique Rahman said regular participation in games helps maintain good health while fostering discipline, self-confidence, concentration and teamwork.
A total of 36 students from classes six to ten and eight teachers from Puthia Girls' High School, along with 50 students from classes six to ten and four teachers from Savar Girls' High School, visited the parliament complex.
