BGB on high alert along borders to prevent infiltration ahead of polls

Amid concerns over possible infiltration and violence ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has taken a tough stance along the border areas of Lalmonirhat district.According to BGB, heightened security measures have been put in place to prevent illegal infiltration, cross-border crimes and any form of violence during the election period. As part of the efforts, BGB has also launched public awareness activities in border-adjacent areas.In a press release sent to the media, the Rangpur Battalion (51 BGB) said special patrols, strict surveillance and enhanced intelligence operations are being conducted across the border areas. Additional vigilance has been imposed in vulnerable and unguarded stretches of the border.The release noted that with the election approaching, there is a risk that unscrupulous groups, terrorists and drug traffickers may attempt to use border routes for smuggling narcotics or illegal infiltration. To counter this, BGB has strengthened security across all border points ...
