Bangladeshi photojournalist of international repute Shahidul Alam, travelling on the aid flotilla bound for Gaza, reported on Wednesday that he had fallen ill briefly but was in no serious danger.

People have been asking how I am. Apologies that I can't respond to you individually. I did vomit today and fell afterwards, but nothing serious,” Alam said from on board the vessel Conscience.

He noted that medical care was readily available.

With 20 doctors on board plus nurses we are probably the best looked after passengers on a ship in medical terms. I did love all the attention I got,” he added with humour, saying his niece Mowli would have called him “a drama queen.”

Alam said a safety drill had been carried out on Conscience earlier in the day, while the ship continued to face rough seas despite a clear sky.

The flotilla is now a day’s sail closer to Gaza.
