Israeli forces launched multiple strikes across southern Lebanon on Saturday, killing at least 10 people, according to Lebanese state media, despite a ceasefire declared two weeks ago.
Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) said at least three people were killed in an Israeli strike on the town of Shoukine in Nabatieh district.
Earlier, two people were killed when a car was hit in Kfar Dajjal village. Three others died after a house was struck in Lwaizeh, while two more were killed in another attack on Shoukin, the report said.
Israeli warplanes also targeted the area near al-Saada Bakery close to al-Quds roundabout in Nabatieh city and carried out strikes on Siddiqine town in Tyre district.
Israel says its operations are aimed at the Iran-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah, though Lebanese reports say many of those killed have been civilians.
According to NNA, at least 44 people have been killed in Israeli attacks across Lebanon over the past two days. Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health said on Friday that the death toll since renewed fighting began on March 2 had risen to at least 2,618.
More than one million people have also been registered as displaced since the conflict escalated, officials said.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah on Friday said it would continue attacks on Israeli forces inside Lebanese territory.
In a statement, the group said it targeted Israeli troop positions and vehicles in several frontline areas in southern Lebanon, including artillery strikes near the Moussa Abbas complex in Bint Jbeil and Hula village. It also claimed a drone attack on troops in Biyyada.
Hezbollah further said it struck a military Humvee in Taybeh and a Merkava tank in Rishaf using drones.
The latest round of fighting began on March 2, when Hezbollah fired rockets into northern Israel amid growing regional tensions involving Iran.
