An Israeli woman has expressed astonishment after seeing her own photograph broadcast on national television as a purported victim in the recent protests in Iran.

The incident has emerged as a striking example of false reporting amidst ongoing unrest and debates over the Iranian government’s handling of demonstrations.

According to Press TV, Noa Zion, who has never set foot in Iran, was at home on Monday (26 January) when she switched on Israel’s Channel 12 news. To her surprise, her image appeared under the headline, “Four Jews Killed in Iranian Protests.”

The report mistakenly identified her as Sanaz Javaherian, claiming she was a protester who was detained and allegedly beaten to death by Iranian security forces.

In a video shared on social media following the broadcast, Noa reacted with disbelief, saying, “I never imagined anything like this would happen in my life… I’m right here at home!” She added, “I’m here, alive, sitting at home, and in half an hour, I’m going to training. I have never been to Iran in my life.”

The video has been widely shared online, with many users highlighting the humorous yet absurd aspect of the false reporting.

Several have described the incident as either a failure of Israeli propaganda or a simple journalistic error, with one social media post noting, “Israeli propaganda is so effective it can kill its own citizens on television.”

As of now, Channel 12 has not issued any public correction or statement regarding the error.

The story has sparked considerable discussion on social media, illustrating the pitfalls of misinformation in the coverage of international events.
