Pakistan’s Adiala jail authorities on Wednesday rejected widespread rumours claiming the PTI founder and former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan had been moved out of the facility, asserting that he remains inside the prison and is in good health.

There is no truth to reports about his transfer from Adiala jail,” officials of the Rawalpindi prison said in a statement, adding that he was “fully healthy” and receiving proper medical attention. They described speculation regarding his health as “baseless”.

The PTI founder, jailed since August 2023, is facing multiple cases ranging from corruption to terrorism following his removal from office through a no-confidence vote in April 2022.

Amid the rumours, his sister Aleema Khan sharply criticised what she termed an “unprecedented breakdown” of Pakistan’s justice system.

She claimed that Imran Khan had been “isolated for at least six weeks” and that family members were being denied court-mandated Tuesday visitation rights.

They are in contempt of court on everything,” she said, adding that judicial independence had been severely compromised.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif alleged that the PTI founder was enjoying comfort in prison.

Check the menu of the food that comes for him — it is not available even in a five-star hotel,” he said, adding that he had access to television, choice of channels, and exercise equipment.

Asif contrasted this with his own jail experience, recalling nights on cold floors, basic food, and no hot water.

He further claimed that the PTI founder had been provided a double bed and “a velvet mattress”.

Fear God — no one owns time,” the defence minister added.
