A massive fire broke out at a factory inside the Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) on Thursday afternoon.
Sixteen firefighting units rushed to the spot and launched an operation to bring the blaze under control, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The fire originated around 2:30pm at a factory named Adams Cap, located in Plot No. 5 of the EPZ area. The factory reportedly manufactures hospital equipment, and the fire is believed to have started from the eighth floor of the building.
It could not be immediately confirmed how many workers were inside the factory at the time of the incident or whether anyone was trapped.
The Fire Service control room in Agrabad said that a total of 16 units are currently working to douse the fire.
Members of the Bangladesh Army and Navy have also joined the firefighting efforts.
