A court here today deferred until October 26 the hearing on charge framing in a case filed against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 33 others over the alleged murder of truck driver Hossain during the 2024 July Mass Uprising.
Today was set for hearing on the matter, but prison authorities failed to produce accused Naim and Sajjad before the court as they were due to appear before different courts in different cases. Allowing a time petition filed by the prosecution, Judge Robiul Alam of the Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 set the new date for the hearing.
According to the case documents, Md Hossain was shot in the Mohammadpur Chand Udyan area on July 19, 2024, while returning home after leaving his truck in the Gabtoli area. He succumbed to his injuries.
Hossain's mother, Rina Begum, filed the case with Mohammadpur Police Station on August 31, 2024. Police filed a charge sheet on November 23, 2025, against 34 people, including Sheikh Hasina, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Hasan Mahmud and Jahangir Kabir Nanak.
