Prime Minister Tarique Rahman left New York for Bangladesh on Friday after attending the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

On Friday,  at 11:35pm New York time, an Emirates flight carrying Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and members of his entourage departed John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) for Bangladesh.

The Prime Minister arrived in New York on Sept 21 to attend the UN General Assembly session. It was his first participation in the UN General Assembly session as Prime Minister.

During his visit, the Prime Minister addressed the General Debate of the General Assembly on behalf of Bangladesh. He also took part in various high-level meetings and events on climate change and rising sea levels, the Rohingya crisis, and maternal and newborn healthcare.

On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session, the Prime Minister held meetings with heads of state and government from various countries and senior officials of international organisations.

The meetings covered various issues of mutual interest, including bilateral relations with Bangladesh, trade and investment, development cooperation, climate change and the Rohingya crisis.
