Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today (Tuesday) attended the opening session of the general debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The Prime Minister joined the session at the United Nations Headquarters in New York this morning, local time.

Earlier, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, attended a welcome breakfast hosted by UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

The breakfast was held at the UN Headquarters at 7:30am local time in honour of world leaders and their spouses and companions who have arrived in New York to attend the UN General Assembly session.

The 81st session of the UN General Assembly formally commenced on 8 September. 

Meanwhile, the general debate of the session began today.
