Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the government aims to build Bangladesh into a welfare state.
He made the remarks while addressing a public rally at Mirzapur Chairman Bari Ghat in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj on Sunday.
Earlier, at around 11:30 a.m., the Prime Minister released fish fry into the Old Brahmaputra River to mark the observance of National Fisheries Fortnight 2026.
He later distributed fish fry among local people and exchanged greetings with residents.
At 1:00 pm, the Prime Minister visited the Katiadi Carp Hatchery Complex in Kishoreganj.
He subsequently attended the inauguration and prize-giving ceremony of National Fisheries Fortnight 2026 at Achmita George Institution Ground in Katiadi.
Later, at 4:00 pm, the Prime Minister inaugurated the distribution of Family Cards, the provision of various grants, and the payment of honoraria to imams, muezzins, khadems and personnel serving at other places of worship at the Old Stadium Ground of Kishoreganj Municipality.
