A total of 291 Members of Parliament (MPs) participated in the general discussion on the national budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year, which continued for nearly 46 hours in a total in the House

“The general discussion on the budget was held for 45 hours and 51 minutes. A total of 291 MPs joined the discussion,” said an official of Parliament Secretariat.

Some 200 lawmakers from the ruling party spoke for a combined 32 hours and three minutes, while 91 opposition MPs participated in the discussion for a total of 13 hours and 48 minutes.

Parliament on Tuesday passed a Tk 9,38,000-crore national budget after the conclusion of the discussion.

Earlier, 25 MPs—18 from the ruling party and seven from the opposition—participated in the discussion on the supplementary budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year, which lasted three hours and three minutes.

Altogether, 316 MPs took part in the discussions on both the national budget and the supplementary budget, with the discussions continuing for a combined 48 hours and 51 minutes.
