Prime Minister Tarique Rahman joined an interaction event with Bangladeshi expatriates shortly after arriving in Malaysia on his first official state visit abroad as head of government.
The gathering was held at Hotel Shangri-La in Kuala Lumpur at around 10:45 PM local time on Sunday. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attended as the chief guest and addressed members of the Bangladeshi community living in Malaysia. His wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, was also present at the event.
Members of the Prime Minister’s delegation, cabinet members, advisers, and senior officials attended the meeting, including Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia Monjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury.
Earlier in the evening, at 8:35 PM local time, the Prime Minister arrived in Kuala Lumpur, where he was received with a red-carpet welcome and a ceremonial guard of honour. During the ceremony, the national anthems of both Bangladesh and Malaysia were played.
At the VVIP terminal, the Prime Minister was welcomed by Malaysia’s Religious Affairs Minister Zulkifli Hasan and his spouse.
This marks Tarique Rahman’s first foreign visit since assuming office as Prime Minister. He is accompanied by a 25-member delegation, including ministers, state ministers, advisers, and personal officials.
