US President Donald Trump on Tuesday delivered a nearly hour-long speech at the United Nations General Assembly, where he spent much of his time lambasting the UN and Europe while making a series of controversial remarks.

At the outset of his address, Trump praised his own country, saying the United States is passing through a “golden era” in its history.

He then sharply criticized the UN, claiming himself as a symbol of peace while asserting that he has stopped seven conflicts without the UN’s involvement.

The UN only knows how to make big statements. It has shown no real ability in solving problems. Despite having so much to do, it is doing nothing,” Trump said.

Pointing to himself, the US president argued that global peace comes not through organizations like the UN, but through the leadership of “strong leaders.”

Turning his ire towards Europe, Trump slammed its energy policy, dismissing renewable energy as “scam.” While the West campaigns against fossil fuels, he said, they ironically present renewables as the future of energy.

You will fall into big trouble with this renewable energy. And immigration will bring even bigger problems for you. You are calling your own destruction upon yourselves,” he warned.

Trump alleged that migrants are undermining Europe’s purity. Urging to preserve Christian values, he added: “I love Europe. It hurts to see Europe being destroyed before my eyes. They should preserve their prehistoric religious purity.”

The former US president also voiced anger over Russia, accusing European countries of continuing to buy cheap oil from Moscow. While urging everyone to cut trade ties with Russia, he remained silent on Russia’s commercial relations with China and India.
