Detectives have detained former Feni-3 lawmaker Lt Gen (retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury from the capital’s Baridhara area.

He was picked up from his residence at Baridhara DOHS around 2:30am on Tuesday.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch chief Shafiqul Islam said he is an accused in at least five cases filed in Dhaka and Feni. 

“A decision will be taken in which case he will be shown arrested after completing the scrutinising process,” the DB chief said.

He also said there is an arrest warrant against him in a July Movement related case filed in Feni.

In addition, he is facing allegations of human trafficking abroad.

Further legal steps will be taken in this regard, he added.
