BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman was sworn in as the Prime Minister on Tuesday following his party’s landslide victory in the 13th parliamentary election.

President Mohammad Shahabuddin administered the oath to him at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad complex.

Earlier in the morning, the newly elected BNP lawmakers took oath. A meeting of the BNP parliamentary party was later held with Tarique in the chair.

At the meeting, he was unanimously elected as the Leader of the House and Prime Minister after the BNP secured an absolute majority in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.

Around 10:45am, Tarique Rahman, along with BNP Members of Parliament elected in the 13th national election, took oath as members of the new parliament. They subsequently sat in a meeting following the swearing-in ceremony.
