Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin will address the nation this evening ahead of the upcoming parliamentary election.
The Election Commission (EC) confirmed the matter in a statement on Tuesday.
According to EC sources, the CEC’s address was recorded on Tuesday evening and will be broadcast simultaneously on Wednesday (February 11) evening on Bangladesh Television (BTV), Bangladesh Betar, as well as all private television channels and radio stations across the country.
The CEC is expected to brief the nation on the overall preparedness for the election and urge voters to exercise their franchise by going to polling centres without fear.
He is also likely to outline arrangements for the distribution of election materials nationwide and the comprehensive security measures in place for all 42,659 polling centres.
As part of the security plan, around 958,000 members of law enforcement agencies will be deployed, while CCTV cameras and drone surveillance will be used to ensure a secure and orderly polling environment.
The CEC is also expected to reiterate the Election Commission’s firm commitment to holding a free, fair and participatory election.
