The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has cancelled its previously scheduled election rally at Nayapaltan on February 8, as preparations intensify for the 13th national parliamentary election and a proposed referendum.
The decision was announced on Friday by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a press conference held at the party’s central office in the capital.
Rizvi said the party has decided to withdraw the planned Dhaka rally on February 8. Instead, BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman may deliver election speeches at several locations across Dhaka North and South metropolitan areas on February 8 and 9.
He added that the revised programmes aim to ensure wider public engagement as the party moves forward with its election campaign.
