A devastating fire broke out at an apartment on the second floor of a seven-storey building in the capital’s Uttara area on Friday morning, leaving three people dead and at least 13 others injured.
The incident occurred around 7:50am at a building located on Road-18 in Sector-11 of Uttara, said Talha Bin Jasim, acting officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence media cell.
Firefighters reached the spot within minutes, bringing the blaze under control by 8:25am. The fire was completely extinguished by around 10:00am, according to the Fire Service.
The injured were rescued from the building and taken to Uttara’s Kuwait Maitree Hospital for treatment.
The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately.
