Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin on Monday said the overall environment surrounding the 13th National Parliamentary Election remains satisfactory so far.

He made the remarks while entering the Election Commission building at Agargaon in the capital after inspecting the appeal booths.

The CEC said a free, fair and credible national election would be possible with the cooperation of all stakeholders. “At present, the election environment and situation are satisfactory,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has started receiving appeals against decisions taken by returning officers from Monday. According to the commission, hearings on the appeals will be held in phases starting from January 10.

The appeal process is a key part of the electoral framework, allowing aggrieved candidates to seek redress ahead of the polls, as the commission moves forward with preparations for the upcoming national election.
