Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is set to visit Dhaka to pay his last respects to former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the development on Tuesday afternoon.

Khaleda Zia’s funeral prayers (janaza) will be held on Wednesday. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Minister of Bhutan, and a representative of the President of the Maldives are also scheduled to attend the janaza.

In addition, officials from various foreign missions currently stationed in Bangladesh will be present at the funeral prayers.

Khaleda Zia passed away at 6:00am on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital.
