BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that development will be his top priority if he is elected through the people’s vote in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
He made the remarks on Monday while speaking to journalists after submitting his nomination papers to the Thakurgaon district returning officer.
Fakhrul said the people of Bangladesh have regained their voting rights and that the 13th national parliamentary election is scheduled to be held on 12 February next year. He said he has been nominated by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to contest the Thakurgaon-1 constituency in the upcoming election.
Expressing gratitude, he thanked party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman for once again giving him the opportunity to contest from the constituency. “I would like to express my gratitude to Almighty Allah for allowing me to be nominated and giving me the opportunity to work for the people,” he said.
The BNP Secretary General said that if elected with the love and support of the people, his focus would be on the overall development of the Thakurgaon region. This would include improving the social environment, strengthening educational institutions, enhancing social welfare systems and boosting economic activities.
He also said employment opportunities would be created and special attention would be given to addressing the problems faced by farmers in the area.
Mirza Fakhrul further appealed to the voters of the constituency, requesting them to extend the same support they had given him in the past by voting for the BNP’s electoral symbol, the sheaf of paddy, in the upcoming election.
