Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Syeda Rizwana Hasan on Saturday said the trial of Sharif Osman Hadi murder will be completed during the tenure of the interim government.
She said the charge sheet in the murder case will be submitted on January 7 and the trial will be concluded within the interim government’s timeframe.
Rizwana made the remarks while visiting the ongoing sit-in programme at the Inqilab Mancha at Shahbagh on Saturday night.
She said the interim government is working to identify Hadi’s killers as well as those who were behind the murder. “Efforts are underway to ensure that the charge sheet is accurate and flawless so that there is no scope for any loophole,” she added.
“We must remember that we are working while facing hostile forces. Therefore, no such information can be disclosed that may strengthen them,” she said.
The environment adviser further said if the accused killers have fled the country, India has been clearly informed through diplomatic channels to facilitate their return. “India has assured us of cooperation if the suspects are located there,” she added.
She said more details could not be disclosed at this stage in the interest of the investigation, adding that the Detective Branch (DB) of police will provide further information through a press briefing later.
