A fire that broke out at the under-construction section of Khaddar Market near Gulistan Zero Point in the capital was brought under control after about one and a half hours of efforts.

The Fire Service and Civil Defence managed to control the blaze at around 6:58 pm on Friday, officials said.

However, the extent of damage could not be determined immediately. No casualties were reported.

The fire broke out at around 5:28 pm. Firefighters rushed to the spot within five minutes of receiving the information.

A total of nine units of the Fire Service were deployed sequentially and worked for nearly one and a half hours before bringing the fire under control.
