The Election Commission (EC) has issued a gazette redefining the boundaries of four parliamentary constituencies in Pabna and Faridpur districts, following directives from the High Court Division of the Supreme Court.

According to the gazette published on Wednesday (Dec 24), changes have been made to Pabna-1, Pabna-2, Faridpur-2 and Faridpur-4 constituencies.

Under the new delimitation, Pabna-1 (Constituency No. 68) will comprise Santhia upazila and Bera upazila’s Bera municipality along with Haturia Nakalia, Natun Varenga, Chakla and Kaitola unions.

Pabna-2 (Constituency No. 69) will include Sujanagar upazila and the remaining areas of Bera upazila, excluding the unions and municipality now incorporated into Pabna-1.

In Faridpur, Faridpur-2 (Constituency No. 212) will consist of Nagarkanda and Saltha upazilas, while Faridpur-4 (Constituency No. 214) will include Bhanga, Charbhadrasan and Sadarpur upazilas.

The EC said the redrawing of boundaries aims to ensure an accurate demarcation of voters and electoral areas, which will be applicable to the upcoming national elections.
