BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to visit the National Memorial in Savar to pay homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War.

He will leave for Savar after the Juma prayers on Friday. This will be his first programme outside Dhaka since returning to the country.

Ahead of his visit, law enforcement agencies have put in place a four-tier, tight security arrangement in and around the National Memorial.

According to the scheduled programme, Tarique Rahman will first visit the mausoleum of former president and BNP founder Shaheed Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar after Juma prayers. From there, he will proceed directly to the National Memorial in Savar by road.

His visit has created a festive atmosphere in Savar and Ashulia, with local BNP leaders and activists making extensive preparations to welcome him.
