The Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) at Jamuna Future Park in Dhaka has announced a sudden closure from 2:00 pm on Wednesday amid the prevailing security situation.

In a notice published on IVAC Bangladesh’s official website, the authorities said the centre would remain closed until further notice due to security concerns.

Applicants who had appointments scheduled for document submission will be given new appointment dates at a later time, the notice added.

The development comes just two days after the US Embassy in Dhaka issued a security alert for American citizens residing in Bangladesh.

Citing the possibility of increased political gatherings and protests in the coming days, the embassy advised US nationals to avoid public gatherings and demonstrations.

Against this backdrop of heightened security concerns, the IVAC’s decision to suspend operations has drawn attention.
