A four-member team of specialist physicians from China has arrived at Evercare Hospital to provide medical advice for BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

The team landed in Dhaka around 8:30pm on a China Southern Airlines flight and reached Evercare Hospital at around 10:10pm, BNP’s media cell confirmed.

Former secretary Abdul Khaleque received them at the airport, while BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir welcomed them upon arrival at the hospital.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, Dr Richard Beale from the United Kingdom’s London Clinic arrived in Dhaka to join Khaleda Zia’s treatment efforts.

On Tuesday, her personal physician Dr AZM Zahid Hossain said a medical board led by cardiologist Prof Dr Shahabuddin Talukder is currently overseeing Khaleda Zia’s treatment.

Before this, on Monday, a five-member preliminary medical team from China visited Evercare Hospital to give treatment-related advice. The main team joined them today.

Zahid added that medical specialists and heads of government from the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Qatar, Singapore, Pakistan and India have expressed willingness to support Khaleda Zia’s treatment process.

Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on November 23 with multiple health complications. Her condition deteriorated on November 27, prompting doctors to shift her to the CCU. She has now been undergoing treatment for 11 consecutive days.
