The main team of Chinese specialist physicians is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka today (Tuesday) to oversee the treatment of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

A preliminary delegation of Chinese doctors visited Evercare Hospital on Monday (1 Dec), ahead of the full team’s expected arrival.

Briefing the media on Tuesday, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain — the BNP chief’s personal physician and a member of the party’s local medical committee — shared the latest developments in her treatment.

He urged all concerned not to pay heed to rumours regarding Khaleda Zia’s health.

Meanwhile, BNP leaders and activists from various parts of the country have continued gathering in front of Evercare Hospital to inquire about Begum Zia’s condition. Security in the area has been tightened, with law enforcement agencies deployed to maintain order.

On Monday night, the government declared Begum Khaleda Zia a “very, very important person” and announced that the Special Security Force (SSF) would be assigned for her protection.
