Two men were shot and hacked to death in broad daylight outside the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Khulna on Sunday, police said.  

Assistant Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police, Shihab Karim said the incident occurred around 12:30 pm when Rajon and Hasib, residents of Rupsar Baghmara, were leaving the Metropolitan and Sessions Judge’s Court after appearing in a firearms case, according to eyewitnesses.  

Several assailants reportedly opened fire on the duo and attacked them with machetes before fleeing the scene. Both victims were rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors on duty declared them dead.  

Police and officials from various intelligence agencies visited the scene, which left the entire court complex in a state of panic. Lawyers at the court expressed concern over the brazen public attack.  

An investigation into the killings is underway.
