Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin has said that the current law and order situation is not satisfactory, though he expects it to improve ahead of the upcoming national election.

Speaking on Wednesday during a visit to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) headquarters to observe election-related training and drills for the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the CEC expressed confidence in the readiness of the security forces.

He said every law enforcement agency is committed to fulfilling its duties during the election. “Therefore, we will be able to deliver a free, fair and well-organised election by maintaining law and order.”

The CEC added that the situation has not yet reached a “perfect level”, but is gradually returning to normal.

Referring to threats to disrupt the polls, he said the Election Commission (EC) has taken such warnings seriously. “Anyone attempting to obstruct the voting process will face action,” he warned.

Around 35,000 BGB members will be deployed during the upcoming 13th national election.
