BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has stressed that ensuring women’s safety—both online and offline—must be a national priority if Bangladesh is to move forward.
In a statement posted on his verified Facebook account on Thursday morning, he said Bangladesh cannot progress while women continue to face harassment, bullying, intimidation and violence in daily life.
He called for urgent measures to make the country safer for “our daughters, mothers, sisters and colleagues.”
Tarique highlighted five priority areas BNP envisions implementing, including a National Online Safety System for women facing cyberbullying and impersonation, protection protocols for women in public life, digital safety education in schools and universities, stronger community-level responses to harassment and violence, and a nationwide push for women’s leadership through training and childcare support.
He said a Bangladesh where women are safe, supported and empowered would be “an unstoppable Bangladesh,” urging all citizens to work together to build such a future.
