BNP Acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman has expressed deep appreciation for Australian parliamentarians who spoke out on democracy, human rights and electoral integrity in Bangladesh, saying their stance reflects a principled commitment to universal democratic values and the wellbeing of the Bangladeshi people.

In a post from his verified Facebook profile on Saturday night, Tarique said many Bangladeshis — both at home and abroad — are increasingly concerned about political uncertainty, public safety and the need for an electoral process where every citizen can participate freely and without fear.

He noted that Australian MPs’ call to ensure the safety, dignity and political rights of all election participants “resonates strongly” with the aspirations of millions in Bangladesh who want stability, justice and a peaceful path to choose their future.

Tarique also highlighted the role of the Bangladeshi diaspora in Australia, praising their efforts to amplify concerns about the country’s political situation.

He said their contributions to Australian society and their continued engagement with Bangladesh have strengthened ties between the two nations while ensuring global attention on democratic challenges at home.

He further stressed that Australia and Bangladesh share long-standing cooperation based on mutual respect.

The support from Australian representatives, he said, serves as a reminder that the global commitment to democracy is collective and strengthened when nations stand together for peace, justice and progress.
