BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has stated that the party will reinstate the constitutional references to placing trust and faith in Almighty Allah if it returns to power.

Speaking at the International Khatme Nabuwwat Grand Conference at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Saturday, he said the BNP is committed to restoring what it considers an important part of the state principles.

Our leader Ziaur Rahman was the first to insert ‘Bismillah’ into the Constitution. He also incorporated trust and faith in Almighty Allah. But at present, that trust and faith is no longer fully upheld. When we come to power, trust and faith in Almighty Allah will be reinstated in the fundamental principles of state policy,” Salahuddin said.

He said Almighty Allah sent the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a mercy for all creation. “The Prophet said, ‘I am the last Prophet and Messenger; no prophet will come after me,” he told the gathering.

Maulana Abdul Hamid, the Ameer of the Khatme Nabuwwat Sanrakkhan Committee Bangladesh and the Pir of Madhupur, was presiding over the grand conference.

The Sammilito Khatme Nabuwwat Parishad is organising the event, and the Khatme Nabuwwat Sanrakkhan Committee Bangladesh is supervising it.
