President Mohammed Shahabuddin has arrived in his home district of Pabna on a two-day official visit, marking his fifth trip to the district since assuming office.
The President reached the Pabna District Stadium helipad at 9:40 am on Saturday (8 November), where he was received by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mofizul Islam and Superintendent of Police Mortoza Ali Khan. Earlier in the morning, he departed from Tejgaon helipad at 9:00 am for Pabna by helicopter.
According to the schedule issued on 3 November by the President’s Protocol Officer, Abul Kalam Md Lutfur Rahman, the President will visit the Arifpur graveyard at 11:00 am on Saturday to pay respects at the graves of his parents. He will then spend time at his residence, meeting close relatives and family members, before staying overnight at the Pabna Circuit House.
On Sunday (9 November), the final day of his visit, President Shahabuddin will receive a guard of honour at the Circuit House in the morning before departing for Dhaka by helicopter.
This is his first visit to Pabna since the fall of the Awami League government, led by Sheikh Hasina. Since taking oath as the 22nd President of Bangladesh on 24 April 2023, he has visited his birthplace four times — first on 15 May 2023, then on 27 September 2023, 16 January 2024, and 9 June 2024.
