BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has claimed that the current political crisis was created by the interim government itself.

The government has broken its trust and commitment,” said the BNP leader while addressing the 53rd founding anniversary of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) at the Jatiya Press Club on Friday (31 October).

Fakhrul said, “The Consensus Commission held discussions for nine long months on various reform issues. We reached agreements on many matters, but there were a few where we could not reach a consensus. Therefore, we submitted a note of dissent. Despite the rain, we signed the July Charter under umbrellas. However, the recommendations submitted to the Chief Adviser were significantly different. The note of dissent we provided was not mentioned.”

He said, “We had placed our trust in the Consensus Commission and the government. But they have betrayed that trust and deceived the people — something we did not expect from them.”
