Bangladesh has strongly condemned the recent approval of a draft law by the Israeli Knesset aimed at imposing so-called “Israeli sovereignty” over the occupied West Bank.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “Bangladesh reiterates that Israel has no sovereignty over any part of the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.”
The statement said Israel continues its illegal occupation by expanding unlawful settlements in the West Bank in clear violation of international law, the UN Charter, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334.
The ministry also noted that Dhaka has welcomed the advisory opinion delivered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on October 22, 2025, which highlighted Israel’s obligations under international humanitarian law, including the prohibition of using starvation of civilians as a method of warfare.
Bangladesh reaffirms its unwavering support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and to establish an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital,” the statement added.
