A special flight carrying 309 Bangladeshi nationals who voluntarily returned from Libya’s capital Tripoli landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Friday morning.
The repatriation was arranged under the supervision of the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli, with full cooperation and logistical support from Libya’s Government of National Unity.
This was the second chartered flight operated with assistance from the Libyan authorities. Earlier, on October 9, another 309 Bangladeshis returned home on the first such flight. Upon arrival, many of them shared their bitter experiences in the North African country with their families and the media.
The returnees had previously applied to the embassy expressing their willingness to return home voluntarily. The embassy, in coordination with the Libyan government, completed all necessary administrative procedures, including preparing travel documents and obtaining exit permits from local authorities.
According to the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli, preparations are underway to repatriate another 300 registered Bangladeshis from Misrata and Tripoli on October 30 under the same arrangement.
