The Department of Environment (DoE) has carried out a series of mobile court drives across multiple districts to curb noise pollution, seize hydraulic horns, and prevent the storage and sale of banned polythene products.

In the capital’s Rampura area, a mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Ashiq Ahmed was jointly conducted by the DoE’s Monitoring and Enforcement Wing and the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).

During the operation, 15 vehicles were inspected, 6 were fined a total of Tk 16,000 for using hydraulic horns, and 8 horns were confiscated. The BRTA also filed 11 cases and dumped two unfit buses.

In Rajbari, a joint drive by the district administration and the DoE near Aladipur Jamai Pagoler Mazar Gate, led by Executive Magistrate Md. Hafizur Rahman, resulted in the seizure of two hydraulic horns and the imposition of Tk 1,000 in fines.

In Meherpur, Executive Magistrate Khadija Akter led a mobile court that filed four cases, realized Tk 2,000 in fines, and destroyed eight prohibited horns on the spot.

Meanwhile, in Harinakundu upazila of Jhenaidah district, Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Eshita Akter conducted a mobile court drive targeting illegal storage and sale of banned polythene. The operation filed three cases, imposed fines of Tk 8,000, and seized 24.5 kilograms of polythene.

In Narayanganj Sadar upazila, a mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Md. Tarikul Islam fined one vehicle Tk 2,000 and confiscated a hydraulic horn for violating the Noise Pollution (Control) Rules, 2006.

The Department of Environment said such nationwide enforcement drives will continue to combat noise pollution, eliminate banned polythene, and promote environmental sustainability across the country.
