Dengue continues to wreak havoc across Bangladesh even in late November, with eight more deaths reported in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 778 patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue fever. 

With these latest cases, the total number of dengue-related deaths this year has risen to 364.

The figures were disclosed in a report released on Sunday (23 November) by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the DGHS, a total of 90,264 people have been infected with dengue so far this year up to 23 November.

Earlier, in 2024, from January to 31 December, 101,214 dengue cases were recorded, and 575 people lost their lives to the mosquito-borne disease.

In comparison, 2023 marked the deadliest year on record for dengue in Bangladesh. Between 1 January and 31 December 2023, a total of 1,705 people died, while hospitals across the country admitted 321,179 dengue patients.
