Five more people died of dengue on Saturday while 792 others were hospitalised across the country in the last 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With the latest figures, dengue fatalities this year rose to 331, and total infections climbed to 83,858.

The data was released in the DGHS’s routine dengue bulletin issued by its Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room on Saturday.

Of the new admissions, 125 were reported from Barishal division, 136 from Chittagong division, 108 from Dhaka division, 226 under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 121 under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 15 from Khulna division, 60 from Mymensingh division and 2 from Sylhet division.

All five deaths in the 24-hour period occurred under Dhaka North City Corporation.

During the same period, 783 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 80,243.

In 2024, the country recorded 101,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths, while 2023 saw the highest toll on record with 1,705 fatalities and 321,179 hospitalisations.
