The price of gold in Bangladesh has hit yet another record high, as Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) raised rates by Tk 3,137 per bhori within just 24 hours.

With the latest adjustment, the price of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 185,947 per bhori (11.664 grams), effective from Wednesday. This marks the highest-ever price of gold in the country.

Bajus, in a notification issued Tuesday night, said the hike comes in response to the rise in the price of pure gold (acid gold) in the local market.

As per the new tariff, the price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 177,503 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk 152,145, and traditional method gold at Tk 126,146 per bhori.

The association also said the selling price must include a mandatory 5% VAT set by the government and a minimum making charge of 6% fixed by Bajus, though charges may vary depending on jewelry design and quality.

The previous adjustment was made just a day earlier on Sept 8, when Bajus hiked prices by Tk 1,260 per bhori, setting 22-carat gold at Tk 182,810 per bhori—then the highest in the country’s history.
