The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended higher for the second straight session on Tuesday, with most listed companies closing in the green.

On the DSE, the benchmark DSEX rose by 56 points, while the Shariah index (DSES) added 11 points and the blue-chip DS30 advanced 14 points.

Market breadth remained strong as prices increased for 317 companies, compared with declines in 35 and no change in 37 issues.

Block market transactions involved 35 companies with shares worth Tk 21 crore changing hands; Fine Foods topped the board with Tk 6 crore in block trades.

Turnover continued to improve, standing at Tk 458 crore, up from Tk 364 crore in the previous session.

Standard Insurance PLC led the day’s gainers with a 10% rise, while Progressive Life Insurance Company Ltd fell the most, dropping 6.75%.

CSE also maintained its upward momentum, with the CASPI index gaining 98 points.

Prices increased for 118 issues on the port city bourse, while 31 declined and 17 remained unchanged.

Turnover dipped slightly to Tk 15.62 crore from Tk 15.76 crore a day earlier.

Apex Tannery Ltd topped the gainers on CSE with a 10% rise, while National Polymer Industries PLC ended at the bottom after losing nearly 9%.
