The South Asia Trade Fair 2025, featuring products ranging from ready-made garments and textiles, gems and jewelry, cosmetics, leather goods, home appliances, kitchenware, processed foods, and electronics, has begun in Dhaka with participation from SAARC countries.

The fair is organized by the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) with support from the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the Ministry of Commerce, and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). Over a hundred companies from South Asian nations are showcasing their products and services at the event.

The inauguration of the fair will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), presided over by Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin.

Providing details at a press conference at FBCCI’s Motijheel office on Tuesday afternoon, SCCI Secretary General Zulfikar Ali Bhatt said the fair will host B2B matchmaking sessions, business networking programs, and other initiatives aimed at building trust and facilitating knowledge exchange among entrepreneurs and businesspersons from SAARC countries, thereby promoting regional trade.

He noted that although there is significant potential for expanding regional trade, South Asian nations remain behind in this regard. The fair is expected to enhance connectivity among the countries, which is crucial. This year, more than a hundred companies from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan are participating.

At the event, FBCCI Secretary General Md. Alamgir highlighted that the fair will showcase the capacities and trade potential of South Asian countries in sectors including textiles, pharmaceuticals, processed foods and agriculture, and electronics, while also reflecting the traditional and cultural characteristics of the participating nations.
