At least ten people have been killed in Dhaka and several other districts after a 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck on Friday morning, causing walls, railings and building parts to collapse in different areas.In Dhaka’s Kosaituli area of Bangshal, a five-storey building’s railing collapsed onto the street, killing three pedestrians. Two of the victims were a father and son — Haji Abdul Rahim, 47, and his 13-year-old son, Meherab Hossain Rimon.Rafi, a student of the 52nd batch of Sir Salimullah Medical College, also died in the incident while out shopping with his mother, Nusrat, who remains in critical condition.Bangshal Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge confirmed the casualties.In Mugda’s Madina Bagh area, a security guard named Maksud, 50, died after the railing of an under-construction building collapsed during the tremor.In Narayanganj’s Rupganj, a one-year-old child, Fatema, was killed when a tin-shed house wall collapsed.
